On July 17, 2008, at the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, DC, Dr. Norman Borlaug received the Congressional Gold Medal -- making him one of only five people ever to receive that honor as well as the Nobel Peace Prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Borlaug is credited with saving a billion lives through his work as an agricultural scientist increasing crop yields, through the so-called "Green Revolution." Borlaug is also an ACSH Trustee, and ACSH president Dr. Elizabeth Whelan was on hand.
