ACSH folk are trying to prod debate in various corners of the Internet:
--The site Eudoxa, which promotes the idea of using smokeless tobacco instead of cigarettes as a method of harm reduction, invites comments on Dr. Gilbert Ross's letter in yesterday's Wall Street Journal on the topic.
--ACSH Advisor Dr. Marc Siegel (of the NYU School of Medicine) writes today in the Washington Post about how doctors' relationship to patients is often hurt by the perception that doctors aren't taking patients' opinions seriously enough -- a perception that may actually be correct, as Siegel humbly acknowledges with an anecdote about the benefits of comparing and contrasting his own tests with a patient's self-performed tests.
--And I weigh in on the very future of humanity (remember, as the note in the upper right-hand corner of this blog says, ACSH can't be held fully accountable for my actions) in a lively forum on Spiked-Online about which challenges the generation born today and coming of age in 2024 should worry about most.
If 2024 brings fewer cigarettes, more sympathetic doctors, and a human race that prioritizes rationally, I guess we'll be doing OK. We shall see.
