The American Council on Science and Health invites you to a press conference to announce the publication of A Citizen's Guide to Terrorism Preparedness and Response and a local version of the book, New Yorker's Guide to Terrorism Preparedness and Response.
This is not a book party. We are holding a press conference to alert and help the public to understand the nature and dangers each and every one of us face in today's world.
| When: |
Wednesday, September 17, 2003 10 a.m. |
| Where: |
"The Priestly Room" at the Overseas Press Club 40 West 45th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in New York. |
| Who: |
American Council on Science and Health (ACSH), a non-profit science education organization. Several of the scientists who contributed to the guide will be available at the conference. |
| What: |
Release of a vitally important book written by leading scientists to help citizens prepare for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear terrorism. |
Dr. Elizabeth M. Whelan, president of ACSH, said, "Facts often mitigate fear. The goal of the scientists who have put together this book is to separate myths from realities in order to distinguish between real and imagined risks. It is only with knowledge that people can elect prudence over paranoia. Our fervent hope is that this guide will help New Yorkers and others across the country make informed choices about their health and safety in light of potential terrorism dangers."
We hope you will be able to attend the press conference.
