Seat at the Table

A seat at the table goes out to Anne Northup, a commissioner on the Consumer Product Safety Commission, for her article in the Wall Street Journal Online about the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA): "We can protect children from harmful products without striking a blow against the teetering American economy but we must act quickly. Otherwise, the CPSIA's Grinch-like rules will needlessly cost our country more jobs and reduce the opportunity for small businesses to help lead our country out of recession."

"We've pointed out the problems with CPSIA since it was in gestation in 2007," says ACSH's Dr. Gilbert Ross. "It is economically devastating without being any help to anyone in terms of safety."
