ACSH is pleased to announce that Dr. Lynn Webster has joined our Board of Scientific Advisors. A nationally recognized expert in pain medicine and addiction, he brings deep clinical and research expertise to the organization.
Dr. Webster earned his MD from the University of Nebraska and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Utah. He is board-certified in anesthesiology, pain medicine, and addiction medicine.
He is a former president of the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) and has held senior leadership roles across clinical research and industry, including Chief Medical Officer of PainScript and Co-Founder and Medical Director of Lifetree Clinical Research. He has also served in executive scientific roles at PRA Health Sciences and Dr. Vince Clinical Research, and as an editor for Pain Medicine and the Journal of Opioid Management.
Dr. Webster has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and several books, including The Painful Truth (Oxford University Press), Deconstructing Toxic Narratives (Springer), and Avoiding Opioid Abuse While Managing Pain (Sunrise River Press).
He has participated as an investigator or co-investigator in more than 350 clinical trials, with research spanning analgesics, abuse-deterrent formulations, opioid-related adverse effects, sleep-disordered breathing, addiction risk, and pain mechanisms.
His honors include the Distinguished Service Award from the Utah Medical Association (2006), Physicians Dedicated to Relieving Pain (AAPM, 2010), and the Presidential Excellence Award for Education (AAPM, 2012). In 2019, he received first place in the Silver Pen Writing Contest for his personal essay, “A Story I Never Told.”
