Liz Szabo talks science, finally!

After publishing a consistent stream of fear-mongering, anti-chemical stories for USA Today, we d like to finally applaud journalist Liz Szabo for her article yesterday on the importance of childhood vaccinations. We re happy to see that Ms. Szabo has resorted to using sound science as she discusses the potentially lethal consequences when parents opt not to get their children vaccinated.

Perhaps one of the reasons why 40 percent of parents today have admitted to deliberately skipping or delaying a shot for their children is because they haven t experienced the ravages of diseases such as measles and whooping cough that their grandparents had. ACSH trustee Dr. Paul Offit, chief of infectious diseases and vaccine research at Children s Hospital of Philadelphia, is quoted in the article, explaining that, We ve not only eliminated these diseases; we ve eliminated the memory of these diseases.
