Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health concluded that consumption of peanuts and tree nuts – especially walnuts – is associated with reduced risks of cardiovascular disease and coronary heart disease. That conclusion isn't surprising since a number of the same authors reached it several years ago.                      
Once again, researchers have taken on that perennial question: What's better for weight loss, low fat or low carb? But this time, they've added walnuts to the mix. This isn't a nutty idea, since these nuts are rich in unsaturated fats and calories.
Walnuts seem to be making their way into the news with increasing frequency. A recent study found that walnuts significantly aided diet quality, while helping the lining of the walls of blood vessels and improving total and LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels.
