Director of Medicine

Charles Dinerstein, MD, MBA, is the Medical Director of the American Council on Science and Health. A vascular surgeon with more than 25 years of clinical experience, he brings a physician's understanding of medical decision-making, an appreciation for scientific uncertainty, and a broader perspective on healthcare economics and policy to his writing.

He earned an MBA with distinction from George Washington University's Healthcare MBA program and has served as a hospital consultant and faculty member teaching behavioral science to family medicine residents.

Although no longer in clinical practice, Dr. Dinerstein remains actively engaged with developments in medicine, medical technology, and public health. His writing explores the intersection of science, medicine, economics, and public policy, with particular attention to how research findings are translated into clinical practice, public understanding, and government regulation.

His writing reflects a surgeon's respect for evidence, a healthy skepticism toward certainty, and an abiding curiosity about how science shapes our lives. He is particularly interested in the distance between what researchers discover, what experts conclude, what policymakers prescribe, and what the public ultimately comes to believe.
